Increasing Warning Signals in Corporate Insolvencies

DIHK Expert Highlights Concern

Berlin - Relief for energy costs is crucial for businesses to thrive, according to DIHK expert Marc Evers.

According to the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), corporate insolvencies in Germany are showing increasing warning signs. In 2023, the number of corporate insolvencies could rise by up to 20%. The main reasons for this are the sharp rise in energy costs, supply chain disruptions, and the war in Ukraine.

DIHK warns that these rising insolvencies could have a negative impact on the entire economy. Evers emphasizes the need for immediate action, stating that businesses need relief from energy costs and other support measures to mitigate the effects of the insolvency wave.
