France's National Football Team Earns Berth in 2022 World Cup
The French national football team, known as the Équipe de France de football, has punched their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The reigning world champions secured their place in the tournament with a convincing victory over Kazakhstan, thanks in large part to a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, opened the scoring for France in the 6th minute. He added two more goals in the second half, completing his hat-trick in the 79th minute. The victory extends France's unbeaten streak to eight games and keeps them top of their qualifying group.
Other contributors to France's victory included Karim Benzema, who scored a goal in the 55th minute, and Antoine Griezmann, who provided two assists. With their place in the World Cup now secure, France will turn their attention to their upcoming friendlies against Finland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 21st to December 18th. France will be looking to defend their title and become the first team to win back-to-back World Cups since Brazil in 1958 and 1962. With a squad full of talent, they will be one of the favorites to lift the trophy.
